Yep I was going to suggest the same thing, the CruzTools RTH3 has about all the things you would need for simple roadside fixes. A friend of mine has one and its a nice convent, easy to carry kit. The issue is you will pay $90-100 for it and could purchase all the tools for about half that. I just took the list of items from it shown on the Revzilla link and found that about half the items I had in my tool box at home as duplicates, I took those duplicates plus purchased the items that I did not have as duplicates to complete the list. I then found a tool roll online similar to this one from Carhartt. I cant remember where I ordered the roll from online but it was made of same material and looked just like the Carhartt for less money.
Ive made my own tool kits.....Id go to Pawn Shops and buy used name brand tools. Craftsman, snapon, Kobalt...etc.
Go through the bike......only get wrenches and sockets that fit something on the bike. Same goes with Allen wrenches and torx. Definitely carry the odd 10mm wrench for the battery. Long trips far away....the 36mm axle wrench. Mini size multimeter plus zip ties and electrical tape.
I dont like cheap no name tools that fail at bad times. I also dont like carrying extra tools that fit nothing on the bike.
Ill try to fix.....then its a call for wrecker.
I would like to add though....everyone should have their service manual and owners manual in digital form on their phone. It might just be an easy fix.
Thanks to all for your very welcome responses. I made a list from several of your suggestions and went out to the garage and found that I have most of the tools from duplicates in my roll-away. There are just three items that I'll need to buy. I'm leaving Sunday morning for a 3,400 mile trip. I feel better prepared now.
Lots of threads I'm told, but like I said, I searched for 20 mins and couldn't find any.
I have had better luck using Google to search subjects on this forum. I just put in.... HD Forums tool kit, and a bunch of threads came up came up.
Looks like you are getting the answers you need, Just for future reference.
I just picked up a 2020 CVO Limited last week and discovered that they don't give you a tool kit with new bikes anymore. I've just spent 20 minutes searching this forum but can't find what I'm looking for. Does anyone have a suggested tool list?
My approach:
1/4 ratchet with assorted sockets.
Hex/Torx keys
Crescent Wrench
Ratcheting screwdriver with various bits
duct tape
air pressure gauge
Pliers
