You cant link to v-twin from here they won't let it, but here is the text from the 96" motor section on v-twin forum on changes harley made to the 08 motor and transmissions. This is the post below; This is a re-print and not written by me, but this was also posted on this forum too a few weeks back.

Got the 2008 touring model catalog in my hands and quickly went through a comparison of engine/gearbox components with the 2007 touring models. Some of the changes are hidden deep in certain components.

Engine [ul][*]front head (new front motor mount)[*]crank bearing[*]cams[*]induction module (new fly by wire system)[*]Stator assembly[*]new ECM etc (new fly by wire system)[*]crank shaft position sensor[*]Starter assembly[*]starter clutch subassembly[/ul]
Gearbox [ul][*]clutch cable[*]transmission assembly[*]transmission case subassembly[*]lock rings 11081 A[*]Inner primary bearing inner race[*]Input shaft[/ul]
It appears to me that the MoFoCo addressed the major issues with the 07 drivetrain in a sneaky way.

Cams to deal with the pinging and likely the overheating, the starter to address premature failures and maybe the noise and my absolute favorite , new transmission assembly with new case, input shaft bearings and a few other minor things to deal with the non existing 07 transmission problem.

Count me in the list of big satisfaction with my 08 SG. I have 1700 flawless miles on mine..... No tranny clatter noises or whine.... Not an oven...... Nothing to bitch about.

If you ever buy a Harley and its not making any noises and runs really smooth.......HONDA HAS BOUGHT THE COMPANY!!!!!

Now there is the most truthful statement about Harley
Davidson I've ever seen made on here!

People that say their 07 or 08 Ultras are smooth have
never rode a Goldwing in their life! if they had rode
a Goldwing they would know how bad their Harley
shakes and vibrates!

A Harley is only smooth compared is anothers motorcycle
that shakes and vibrates very badly. There is no smooth
running Harleys, there is only some with slightly less
shaking and vibration then others! thats what makes a
Harley a Harley! Clanking,rattling,shaking,whining,
vibration is called character"
You know Chuck, I was in total agreeement with you right up until I read your sig line "2003 Concours (best sport tourer ever made)". Guess you've never ridden an ST1300

The VTX1800 and Spirit have been replaced with an '07 Lowrider and '08 Street Glide. The '03 ST1300 with an '06 ST1300.

Honda goldwings might be smooth, but trouble free they are not, honda has had more recalls on that model than all their other models combined. Next time youre bored do some reading on goldwing problems in the honda forums. Be sure you have a lot of time

Yes I have rode may ST1300's as well as ST1100's and their
great motorcycles. The problem is for the price they want
for them (almost double the Concours) your not getting any
where close to double the bike [&o]

Thats what makes the Concours the best Sport Tourer ever
built, you get way more motorcycle then you pay for..

Great point, BUT" Honda pays to fix their mistakes
for their customers in all cases. Where Harley has their
customers pay for Harley's mistakes in most cases!!

I don't buy that, I have not read of a single "falure of a part " that has not been delt with by harley, your own posts tell a story of great customer service once you had a falure. If your talking about the very few people that have complained of a clatter noise. I have not read of a single falure of a part due to that issue. You can find plenty of unsatisfied honda and every other brand owners out there if you care to look for them. I still find it funny, some of you guys who still own or have owned hondas praise them highly but ride harleys, My dad taught me if you get a good thing stick with it. Whats your excuse. And dont play the birthday gift card, you already said long ago your wife always knew you wanted a harley LOL
