7 pin com port installed prior to pickup from dealer when I purchased the bike....
iPhone 11 Pro Max hardwired to the bike using an Apple cord via bike USB...
Sena Freewire plugged into the 7 pin com port and bluetooth'd to my Sena 50S
Both Freewire and 50S have updated firmware...
Do I bluetooth my phone to my Boom on the bike or to my 50S?
With the above setup I should have access to CarPlay and be able to make phone calls, correct?
When making calls, do I use Siri or the Boom system to initiate calls?
Feel free to make suggestions on what I might be wrong on with this setup. I want to get this done today if my back will cooperate. I searched for freeware into, but the results were mountainous and I couldn't sort through them all. Lots of info on the WHIM showing good and bad results but I was having a tough time with the expenditure required to set it up properly.
I had, I'd even talked to Ken but I was under the impression that he wasn't using the GTS. I see that one of the testers was on a '19 Ultra which should have had the GTS system. Thanks for leading me in the right direction.
You should link your phone to the boombox, the Freewire is plugged into your bike, and your headset is linked to the Freewire. So, everything from your phone goes into your boombox, it goes out of the boombox via the Freewire and your headset wirelessly picks up whats is being transmitted by the Freewire.
Both, link your phone via Bluetooth to your boombox, you can leave it at that or you can also plug your phone in using the usb connection in the compartment on the right side of your faring.
Yes, if you use a wired headset there’s no need for a Freewire. The simplest solution, if you want a wireless connection and access to full functionality of the boombox is to install a WHIM. I went the Freewire route with my GT boombox and it worked perfectly. When I upgraded to the GTS boombox, I wanted Car Play so to avoid the many hassles and work arounds I took the plunge, installed a WHIM and everything works perfectly.
