I'm shopping around for a older machine and I wanted to get anyone's opinion. Should I go with a 2006 Electra Glide Ultra Classic with 14,900 miles or a 2009 Electra Glide Ultra Classic with 72,000 miles?
The 2009 has full service records and th 2006 has had an exhaust change to a 2 into 1.
Basically it's newer model with higher mileage vs. older model with lower mileage but no history.

2009: Newer/better frame, 6 gallon tank vs 5, 6 gears vs 5. Would get the 09 all things being equal. Lotta miles for an 09, tho.
Add some pictures. price would make a difference. based on looking about he same [condition wise] and price being same. I would think the 06 would have more life left in it.
Low miles for the 2006 model.....slightly older with the old style frame, five gallon tank, five speed, and 140 rear tire. Still a very reliable and capable machine that can eat up highway miles easily.
2009+ are nice bikes as well. Lots of improvements over the older models.
For me....it depends on price, condition, accessories, and good maintenance keeping.
If these bikes dont work out....theres still plenty of used ones out there.

The 06 is $300 more so essentially, they are the same price. The black one is 2009 and red is 2006.
Curious, what's the 09 price? KBB says *a dealer* would charge you $9500, trade in would be $7K, so a reasonable selling price would be about $8K. Thats with a normal amount of mileage, and this one seems high, so I hope the 09 price is less than $8K. If you can get it for say, $2K less, you can use that money for a good engine build, then you're at 0 miles.
How much do you expect to ride it? If you are going to put a lot of miles on, then you had better budget for a top end on the '09. If you do a lot of interstate riding the six speed would be nice, but not necessary. Certain parts for the '06 are getting scarce, i.e. cruise control.

I would opt for the 09 with the better more modern upgrades and then possibly look at getting the motor rebuilt. Also remember, at some point, you will probably have to do something to your chain tensionors on the 06. It is alot of miles on the 09 but that also doesn't mean the motor is in bad shape
