The HF lift tables are good units, except for the front wheel vise. Still, you can update it with a better one for about 70 bucks. I have a buddy that has a business where he rebuilds wrecked Harley's. He uses more than one HF lift table in his shop.
I paid about $40 or $45 shipped for my vise off Ebayand it was a nice large, angled one with rubber pads on it, but that was about a year ago. If you can find the one ECM is talking about on sale for $350 though, that's the better way to go because it already has a mounted angled wheel vise and you can use air (or your foot) to raise the table. Go to www.harborfreightusa.com and sign up for their "specials" mailing list. They'll send you coupons for discounts on a weekly basis. On occasion you can get a coupon for 15% or 20% off a single item that you can apply to the lift if you are interested in it. The website that doesn't have USA on the end is the general mail order store, and the one that ends in USA deals with their retail locations.
The Handy Industries Air Lift (# 10740) is the lift most often seen in H-D dealerships.
Light enough for one person to move around, as long as your floor is smooth. Stable as all hell. Not too expensive for a once per lifetime investment.
To ride your tourning bike onto the lift, you have to buy the optional side extensions or your feet will not be able to stay on the lift - I found this out the first time the lift was used. You'll also need the Cycle Vise to grip the front tire.
I have the "Direct Lift" with the black jack sizzor lift. Love it. It is full size and black powdercoat on top of diamond plate. enough room for your tools and parts. With the kendon lift, you may save space - but if you have been working on bikes as long as I have - you need the extra room . It was 595.00 + 130 for S/H
Have 2 Kendon Lifts - One @ the Home & 1 @ the river house.... There GREAT and when not in use... They stand up out of the way & take up little floor room.... Works for me!
Ya git what ya pay for guys....ah opted fer the Handy-Lift 1000. Rebuildable cylinder (the HF an' most others are imported cylinders that hafta be replaced - no rebuild available), well made and AMERICAN made.
Oh, wait - we WANT ta lift our US made bike, one of the most expensive out there, with the cheapest IMPORTED one?!?? Damn....no one tells me these thangs..........
Ah'm paid in US dollars, an' yeah - ah'll spend a few more USD ta make sure someone ELSE keeps their job, too.
I like how you talk abtou a 100 dollar jack it is to cheap for theHarley versus a 300 one... but when you talk about a cheap *** 3-500 lift versus a Handy (which is used in 99.9% of EVERY motorcycle shop in the country) it is not needed
