07 runs rich
I have an '07 Ultra. Just hada stage one completed and it backfires against compression. The right tail pipe has more soot, and I assume that means the front cylinder is running rich. Was this not mapped right, or is there another problem?

If you have the stock pipes, the right pipe will always have more color because of the crossover pipe that connects the rear cylinder pipe to the front cylinder pipe. The exhaust gasses will take the shortest path out which would be the right side.

Your right pipe gets all the exhaust from the front cyl. and most of the left cyl., so the soot could be from both or either.
Take it back. No way should the download make your bike run rich.

nvsteve, hit it on the head. the normal stage 1 download will not make your bike run rich. It still has to comply with EPA, which = lean! Something else is wrong, maybe an intake/exhaust leak or something. Have them fix it.
