Why am I seeing so much "exhuast soot" on the right pipe of my 07 FLTR...
VHFP
RUSH 2.0
KNHF
Still running HD stock headers...
Runs strong....
Had been noticing some decel pop and changed "the" setting to 50 on the VHFP from 16 and it seems to have gotten worse...if I go back to 15...has anyone noticed it improving that way?
With stock headers, most of the exhaust comes out the right pipe. Very little flows out the left one. Put you hand back there at idle and you'll feel it. It's normal. Try true dual headers if it bothers you. They look nicer and the engine runs a little cooler in my experience.
The front Cyl has a tendency to run richer than the back one...I have the same problem with mine but have checked the rear Cyl. and it is a nice shade of brown so I am not going to mess with it.... Jer

Agreed
Switch to one pipe, don't have to worry about it!
I had a similar experience. Turned out the front plug was cruded up. It was firing, but not firing all that cleanly. A good wirebrushing seemed to solve the problem, and it hasn't returned. It's worth checking.
Not sure about your "so much" part either because "some" is okay.
I've got V&H Ovals w/stock head-pipes right now and the right side naturally does get some extra soot. It really stood out for a while whenbrand-new andworried mea little too so I havent polished the inner tips yet and have been watching.
After 7K miles mine's just a deeper shade of gold on the right sideand they're starting to balance out pretty much. The plugs look normal so I'm not concerned any more at all (and will polish the junk off now).
