Back to the 6 speed tranny. I have a new 06 ultra and when I'm doin 70 to 75 I'm barely turning 3K RPM's. As it is now I don't really use 5th gear on local roads. I'm not sure what i would do with a sixth gear. Now on a softail I can see the 6th gear as with the CVO SE models, but i am more than happy with my 5 speed tranny and the 06 model year. I took this over an 05 because of the upgraded stereo and easy clutch etc...
I have had a 1995 and a 2000 ultra. I rented a 2006 and was surprised at how much
slower the engine turns at 70-75 mph. My 2000 was just okay at 70 but the 2006 had
a nice sweet spot at 70-80 mph. If a 6 spd had a sixth the same ratio as 5th and closer
ratio gears from first to 5th, that may be okay. Maybe it would create a 5th gear sweet
spot at about 60 mph. The rental really did not feel right at 60mph.
My present bike is a 2002 flstf. would love a six speed for it.
