Default Larger Windshield

Hello. I just bought my first HD, a 2020 Road King. I'm tall (6'4") and the stock windshield is a trifle short for me. The wind hits my face.

If you've moved to a taller-than-stock windshield, is the steering noticeably affected or is it pretty neutral to make the switch?

Thank you.

Went taller than stock on my 04 RK. No discernible impact on handling that I’ve ever noticed.

I've tried 2 different height stock windshields on my RKC and 2 different fairing mounted windshields on the same bike. If there's a difference in handling, I can't tell.

You should be looking OVER the windshield (you probably know that) with the windshield at aprox nose or moustache/mouth area-height/. A little wind in your face is normal.

Most are slightly adjustable. Either bracketry or tilt angle. They're all a little different. Even raising or lowering your seat or suspension changes this geometry.

Oh, I'm looking over it. The windshield comes up to my Adam's apple.

Welcome to the HD Forums.

If the stock shield seems a smidge short, you might look into a replacement stock shield with a recurve. That usually pushes the wind up another 1 1/2". I think the stock is 19 1/2", at least it is on my '13 King. I could feel a slight wind buffet above my head with the stock shield. With a stock height and recurve, it's pretty smooth now.

Clearview Shields makes a 21" and 24" with and without the recurve if you want to go taller. You can check it out here.

I had to cut mine down....I am not blessed with height like you, but I bet if I was, I could've very carefully drilled new holes and increased the height just a little bit.

Then again, you can always buy a new (taller) shield like others will tell you.

I've been using Clearview for the past 10 years , top notch . You can order them any way you want , standard or wide , tinted , curved etc . I have the light tinted grey , 2 years old and still looks new . They come a little thicker than stock as well , so that's a plus . No , I don't work for them !
