Westley's Bleach White works great. Once they're clean it's mostly just a swipe or two with an SOS pad to keep them that way.

Someone recommended SOS pads and they work like a champ. Just jack up the wheel, keep hose pipe handy, and clean a little bit at a time as you spin the wheel, rinsing as you go. Really nothing to it. I like it because I can see them come clean.

I don't have the fat white wall, mine are the 3/8 in stripe on Dunlops, all I use is my wife's Magic Eraser. Works like a charm... just my .02.... Shhh don't tell her!

Another vote for Bleachwhite. I have used it for years on the white lettered tires on my trucks as well as my bikes, and it cleans the tires great. I spray on let it sit a few seconds and roll the bike forward to get what I missed. Removes all the road crud and turns thetires backblack and makes them look new again.

Then maybe you should get rid of them.To me their is nothing better looking then a set of Wide White Walls mounted on a set of laced Wheels.
