i have a couple different posts up right now about new street glides. My question now is if i go with the new street glide, what should i do for performance? should i just forget it and ride it the way it is off the floor? or should i get pipes/ac/and remap? If i should get pipes and everything right off the bat, which pipes and a/c do you guys recommend? what about remapping? Im used to the ol' carburated stuff so please fill me on the new EFI bikes. thanks
I'd get it and ride it some. Give the afttermarket just a little time to play with them and you'll soon have many more and much better options available than you could "roll off the floor" with. Furthermore, unless you're paying cash... you don't wanna pay interest on that kinda things ~ espically since we tend to change them around until we get them the way we want them.
Judging by the look of that sproty, I'm betting you like to tinker with them just as much as we do....
Ride it! Really, ride it for at least the first thousand miles and evaluate the power for yourself. You may be happy with the stock setup, I like it. If, after riding it for a while you find you need more power then go with the 103" kit, some mild slip on mufflers like Bassanis and an ECM remap.
alright....i think ill hold on the performance stuff for the bagger and worry about other stuff. I think instead of the pipes/air cleaner/remap, Im goin to get the 3/4" shorter air shocks harley has and lower and chrome the front end.
Previous year slipons will work, air cleaner will work too, re-tuning will be a have to wait till aftermarket or harley comes out with it. So unless you change to a mild slipon, like the SE performance street that will work without a re-tune youre going to have to leave it stock for awhile.
Ride It... Most HD Dealers will steer you into HD performance parts (SE) and there are much better performance accessories on the aftermarket...
Might consider chrom the Ft end with polished rotors and chrome axel caps...
Are there that many changes to the '08's? Aren't they still the same 96ci engines? Pipes are the same, frame is the same, O2 sensors are there. The 2007 upgrades should work for the 2008's, shouldn't they?
