Ok I have been on and off of here for a few years. Had to make a new id. Any how here is the issue. 2006 flh with SE cam plate upgrade, 258 cams Fueling OE+ pump, New relief valve spring and plunger, Oil sending unit. All these items were changed out chasing an issue with oil pressure falling with the exception of the cam plate. Oil pressure at idle 45+ pounds. Rev up sitting still oil pressure comes up as it should. Take off normally and oil pressure starts to go backwards around 1500-2000 rpm. sometimes far enough the light on dash will come on. I put a mechanical gauge on and it does the same thing. I have not been able to get it to drop sitting still and revving motor. I read somewhere that someone had an issue with the oil pan gasket??? Had a gasket for evo on TC??? How can this be connected to the oil pressure? Thanks in advance
Yeah it sounds like you have blockage or something is causing sumping. If its not a problem revving it at a stand still but it is a problem when you pull off than there's a possibility your pan isn't holding enough oil, as in the oil is in the crankcase or cam chest. When you accelerate from a stop what little oil you have in the pan shifts to the back of the pan away from the pickup. Was any work done to the bike prior to this issue or di it just start out of the blue?
Everything is new inside cam chest except cams and cam plate. High volume oil pump with new orings. Put a stronger spring in relief valve but still doing the same thing. Its full of oil. When i open cam chest up I get the normal cup full of oil.

I have been thru the sumping problem before. When that happens you lose getty up. Wont get out of its own way.
45psi is pretty high on a warmed up TC engine at idle.... did you use a reliable gauge...??
What pressures do you register on the gauge when running, and then when the pressure drops..?? How low does it go while at running RPMs...???
Did the oil pressure drop start after a repair/installation, or everything was running well and all of sudden it happened...??
Anything change just before the oil pressure started dropping.... like the way it ran, or new/strange sounds ...??
Did you ever have an engine issue that caused debris to be left in the internal portions of the engine...?? Like the old spring tensioners breaking up...??
Those mods mentioned... SE Cam Plate upgrade, Fueling oil pump, and relief spring/plunger were done AFTER the oil pressure drop issue appeared and they haven't helped or otherwise affected the oil pressure ???
Curious....while doing the mods did you replace the lifters, inner cam bearings and/or measure your crank run out...?
45#'s at idle hot or cold? Something definitely wrong.if that's hot. What are you running for oil?
High volume oil pump. We tried several different oils. Dino, mobil 1, Now it has spectro. Been using it for 10+ years. I am thinking its a cam plate issue.
Hattitude. Used a mechanical guage I use all the time to check pressure.
Pressure runs 45-55 psi then falls off when you take off. When it gets good and warm it goes all the way down then comes back up. The guy bought the bike not long ago and this has been an issue. Cam plate upgrade was done before he bought it. I put the new pump, bearings, sending unit thought since the stock oil pump had some scoring something was going on there but it never changed anything. Ill check runout next time it comes apart. Lifters I am not sure if they were changed when someone done cam plate.
