Just moved back to a Road King from 15yrs on a batwing. I picked up a Police model that came with a 22" shield. The dealer had to order in a new screen so while I was waiting I picked up a used from marketplace. Its normal RK height of 19" and the coating is starting to come off the lexan so I'm thinking about getting a shorty from Freedom Shields with the BF sale they have going on. I'm 6'2" mostly torso height. Trying to decide if I want a 14" or 16" for summertime use. I usually wear 3/4 lids or Full face. So If my heads out of the pocket thats fine.
I just bought a road king and it came with a 20” from the factory. I cut it down to a 17 and it is never in my sight line now. I’m 6’3” with a 32” inseam so mostly body. I think I could have gone with a 18” dimension and be fine. In your situation, I would not go below 16.
My Road King came stock with a 20 inch shield. I have bought a Mustang solo seat and had it reworked so I sit a little lower than stock and back an inch. I found I was looking through the shield so I found a used 16 with mounting hardware on the net. I've only put 300 miles on since but it will be staying on. I'm only about 5"10 though.

Agree. I ran an 18" shield on my Road King and I'm 6'1" and long in the torso.
Timely post for me. I'm in the process of changing my seat and my windshield. Both seating position and torso height play a major role in determining windshield height. The Mustang Vintage Solo put me up an inch, so the stock 20" shield was right at eye level, very annoying. going down in seat height with a LaPera and thus a much shorter windshield, going with a 17.5" Clearview recurve that I can look OVER, not thru.
14" would be very, very short, esp. for a tall rider.
62 with a Mustang standard touring seat, 14 KST Straight Jacket bars (only needed the wiring harness extensions), and a Klock Werks Billboard flare windshield. Can ride all day in comfort.

I sold my 2004 RK. I have the stock 20", and a 15, 17, and 19 in new condition. if your interested. All. Memphis shades, Better than stock. I'll give you a good price if you're interested. They are just sitting in my garage.

Now that you mention changing seats has me wondering if that Mustang Revere is going to sit me down any further than the stock seat.

I just got the 17.5" Clearview installed, and while it was too short for the Mustang seat (1" taller than stock), it's perfect for stock and even more so for the 1/2" lower Lepera I'm planning on...
I'm 6' with 32" inseam, so about avg torso to leg ratio....
