Thanks for the help, but you said se comp? I know this has something to do with primary????? Is this a recall or something. Can you explain a little more thanks.
When HD put out the 96ci , they used the standard compensator , most will tell you they were to weak to handle the engine , they would " bang " on start up , then eventually start to sound like a can full of marbles . HD upgraded the comp to a stronger screaming eagle comp , although there are aftermarket ones also available . I just changed mine to the new se comp a couple months ago ( 24000 miles ) , no more rattle or bang at start up . You could probably get away with running this bike for thousands of miles without changing it , but just be prepared to do it in the future .
If you do your own servicing , I highly recommend the HD Service manual , the real deal , nothing compares to it . Changing out the comp or doing any other service work will definitely save you some $$ .
Check the tires as well for age and battery too , might help with you negotiating a price .
Thank you so much for your knowledge and help in my big purchase. I have a check sheet of what to go over but didn’t know about this se comp. really appreciate it. I will keep you posted. Thanks my Harley Brother
