It only takes about 10 seconds to remove each hard bag. I don't really care for the look without them, but that's just me.
I love my 04 Carb'd Road King and wouldn't trade it for anyother motorcycle.
Good point. I love the looks of the classic, but I think I'll want mags instead of spokes next. I hate cleaning spokes - lol. The custom would be ideal, I think - hopefully it makes a return or I can find a nice used one in a year or two. Thanks for the responses fellas.
You could ask the dealer to swap the spoke wheels for mags, as the spokes are an extra-cost option. Mag wheels are dime-a-dozen on Ebay, as people are always upgrading to chrome custom wheels, and I bought a new take-off SG rear wheel with new tire for $220 shipped. The tire alone is worth $120, and the wheel is $500 MSRP.
Another disadvantage of tubes is that if you get a puncture you can't patch it on the road. This is not a good attribute for a touring bike.
nah . . no way. I hate thelook of the Heritage (no disrespect to any owners!). I think I can live with leaving the bags on, I was just curious as to how difficult it would be to strip her down.
I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that they hated the look of a Heritage! LOL

lol . . to each his own. (I happen to know quite a few folks who don't like them, and I also know quite a few who wouldn't like my sporty . lol).
the RKClassic is by far the most "Harley" or all Harley's... if i could have more than one bike in the garage the RKClassic would be the other one... but my needs make a bat wing bike more appropriate for me...
Watch out once you get the "King" fever it never goes away. I love mine, went from an Ultra to the RK. I love the vesatility of the RK, I strip it down most of the time for solo riding but can add my tourpac, rear seat, and windshield for added storage and 2-up comfort. I'm looking into a detach batwing style fairing so that I have tunes for the long rides too.
