Hello,
Only my 2013 Road Glide Custom, the bike was factory equipped with ABS.
The brake modular became faulty and the tech removed it and switched over to standard brakes,, all new plumbing, worked great! No issues until now.
The instrument panel always shows ABS light, I am ok with that. The problem..service code shows low brake pressure and brake lights do not function, front or rear!
I have checked fuses, ok, I have checked brake relay, ok, I have bleed brakes, ok.
BTW, I have a PowerVision, I cleared the code...no happy...
Any suggestions....Happy Holidays.
Why would you go away from ABS system? Just curious. I went from a ultra classic standard brakes to a ultra classic with ABS. Never would want another bike without ABS.
Was not happy with ABS. In addition I believe you need a special Harley device (electronic tool) to bleed the brakes on Harley ABS. Correct me if I am wrong.
The front brake switch to turn on the brakelights is behind the lever. You take the lever off to get to it. The rear brake switch is mounted to the brake line behind the right footboard. The rear one had a recall a few years ago but yours has probably already been taken care of. I believe the rear switch is pressure activated. I wonder if that is where the low pressure reading is coming from? Have you checked for voltage at the brake light? Or tried a different bulb?
What does "brake relay OK" mean? Can you feel it click when you activate either brake control? If so, the problem is between the brake relay and the light bulb..or as suggested above, the light bulb itself. Either replace the bulb or check for power to the socket when either brake control is used. Any rear suspension mods that might have allowed the rear tire to rub through the wiring under the fender? Any wiring mods that required plugs to be disconnected and reconnected? Have you done anything to the tail light itself? If it isn't the light bulb, something you may have done recently is a good place to start re-checking.

Ah yes the Thats BS you dont need that or Thats BS Im not paying to fix that rears its ugly head again. Only someone with an old Chevy on jack stands would come up with its better to change the system over to standard brakes, redo the plumbing vs just replacing ABS brake modulator.

So you don't even have a best guess to help him with his question? What happened to "his bike, his money, his choice"? Just passed 100k miles on my 08 Road King without ABS, and i haven't been killed even once so far. One thing I know for absolute certain, it won't be an ABS MALFUNCTION that gets me if it happens.

Understand the sensors & fault codes are for an ABS system and you have switched to Non ABS. Was the ECM flashed to a non-ABS system when it was switched over?
Is the system linked (front & rear) in any way? Might just be a pressure sensor gone bad for the brake lights. Other than that I have nothing. Good luck
Was the Tech a HD Tech at a dealer or an independent tech?

best guess? No it can be anything on a hacked system. Congrats on your milestone.
