Default Quick RK fork ❓

Welp, it's winter here in Ohio. Like to think of a mod project for one of the bikes. Thought about chrome fork lowers on my '14 FLHR, but Im having a hard time doing the money and work when they already look like this:

It's a 2014, I'm not original owner. These lowers don't look like your typical aluminum , but not chre either (close!). Did the bike come this way, or has somebody polished them? If they did, they did one helluva complete thourogh job for sure. But I wouldn't think a 14 woulda needed polished yet either? Anybody got a 14, what's yours look like?

Maybe post a pic up closer, they could just be polished aluminium. I've seen some nice jobs done that way. Chrome is pretty easy to depict.

Yeah, not a good pic. They're definitely polished aluminum, just asking if it's factory. Also kinda looking for opinion on whether it's worth swapping them out. Lol. Thamx sir. I'll look for a better pic.

Factory doesn't do that. If you do go to chrome, hit up ***** Shiny out of California, I've had to sets of forks from them, good work. As well as my wheels and rotors. Check their website, pricing is really good.

My guess is previous owner polished them. Probably got a lot of oxidation (might not be the correct term but that's what I call it) from where the factory clear coat wore off of them.

I have looked into ***** Shiny as well. After ready A LOT of post and several videos, I have yet to see one negative comment about them.

When I was looking for a used RoadKing, I passed a couple nice ones up because of shitty looking legs. That was before I knew it could be remedied fairly inexpensively. Idk. I think I'll leavem alone. Look great! (Just not chrome, lol)

To get them looking that good, someone definitely put quite a bit of effort into getting them that polished. When I bought my 18 RK a year ago, the only thing I could see wrong with it was the right fork was oxidized pretty good. Not the worst I've ever seen though. I haven't fixed it since I plan to switch them out.

Yeah. Might of been a dumb question. I didn't know if a 14 was old enough to need polished. But! The rest of the bike is like new. Never know, maybe the previous owner was ocd and polished them when they didn't need it? Maybe he had a boring Ohio winter of 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, or 19. Lmfao.

personally, I think the polished aluminum has a better look than chrome. to me, it looks like the owner put more effort into making his bike look good. anyone can slap a chrome geegaw on, but to take the effort to polish it to almost chrome reflection shows a lot of attention to detail.
