I have got to ask out there - does anyone have a comment about the Reckless Batwing available for the Heritage?
I just saw a video and did not know they even existed for a Heritage. It appears to be a quality piece and at first glance, did not think the bike was a Heritage.
If you have one or know of one, please let me know if the quality is worth the investment. I like the idea but if it looks cheap and not close to what Harley quality is, I am not interested.
I don't have the Reckless, and people give good reviews on it, but I have the Dead Center Cycles as they also make the detachable fairing for the Heritage.
I have this on my King and the quality is second-to-non IMO. It's also one of the few that comes close to the H-D batwing shape. It also comes with a lock so it won't accidentally walk away. They can also match paint to your bike. The paint was perfect for me.

Thanks for that, RKZen - looks great but noticed only available up to 2017 models (Heritage). Called the factory in Washington state and was told they need a 2018 or newer Heritage in the shop for a template!!!! Too far for me to drive; i am in Kentucky. Price wise, it is more than double $$ but I would bet the quality is as you described. I am in no hurry so Im will keep checking in with "Jessica".
Yeah, the Softails had the frame change in 2018, so not too sure if the front end had changed WRT the windshield mounding points. Unless you've checked, not too sure if Reckless has the same for the 2018+ Heritage as well.

Good for 2018 and up. The video that caught my attention was a 2018 Heritage with a fairing so I was good for 2019. Wish I could compare the two visually because there is a $600 difference. $399 as opposed to $999. What is Dead Center doing to warrant that much difference? Of course it doesn't matter for now.
I know the Dead Center fairing is the pre-Rushmore style batwing and can use any windshield made for the H-D fairings. It also uses any H-D accessories made for the batwing, like the wind deflectors, etc. At least that's what it is for the King fairing. Not sure for the Softail though.
Nevertheless, seems like the Reckless is pretty cool for your ride, and a good price. I use mine for long trips and riding in cold weather, as it helps keep the hands warmer. I get a smidge better MPG with the batwing. One note, you may feel the extra weight at first with the stereo, but I think you'll get use to it. At least that's what I noticed when I test rode the RK and SG when I was deciding on my bike. I have the plain-Jane batwing (no stereo), and the weight is no factor for me.

Thanks - I saw the Dead Center and called factory - not available for 2018 Heritage and up - yet. What I thought would be simple has gotten complicated - fiberglass or polycarbonate - storage compartment or none, trim, etc. My first look at the Dead Center appears to be a step above the Reckless in quality, the Memphis Shade looks very simple, "inside" view. I am not interested in the stereo or nav, etc. but was wondering about the weight. One reason I opted out of a Road King was the weight - if I added 50 pounds with a fairing, I am back into looking at the Street Glide Standard!!!! Cheaper to get an aftermarket fairing and I want to keep the Heritage. Where is that winning lottery ticket I should have?

Reason: Wrong info
I picked up an older Reckless to put on my Deluxe. I wasn't really interested in a radio but it had a hole for it and the speakers so I bought an inexpensive set. The complete fairing with a 4" shield only weighs 18.5 lbs. I noticed no real difference in weight from riding with the standard windscreen. That said I only install the fairing when I'm touring.
I saw a 2016 Deluxe with a Dead Center fairing painted in CVO colors at a dealership. The Dead Center quality is second to none and I really liked the mounting system.

Thanks - I have reviewed all and to me, the Dead Center appears to be top notch, so I agree. Why the factory cannot locate a 2018 and newer Heritage for a template is beyond me. I am going not wait awhile and be patient - and keep calling the factory!
If you're set on the Dead Center, here's a couple of pics on my King. They gave me the storage pouch gratis. I also got the power port on the fairing to power up my GPS (pictured just below the storage pouch), and they were kind enough to include a power line to plug into my ACC pug. This is my cold weather config with the lower fairings.
