I am buying a 2021 CVO Limited soon. I was curious if it is of any worth to upgrade to a stage 3 or stage 4. Will it make a significant difference?
Also is changing out the factory pipes worth it? I've owned 4 Harleys and always changed pipes. It seems like the CVO actually has a decent sound and volume to them..
Any other recommended mods?
I plan to change out the bars to some 12" Yaffe apes and make the tour pack detachable, but thats about it for now.

Make it a 131 within the first 60 days, use HD parts, take out the extended warranty at purchase and then ride the s**t out of it. Sure the performance will not be what aftermarket will do for you but I'd bet it would still put a big grin on your face for years and you would still get a good night's sleep knowing it's covered. Sound is always subjective but my 2019 cvo 117 sounded like a Honda and I couldnt get those pipes off fast enough. As far as engine mods I first went with an aftermarket cam which yielded 119hp and 131tq. I was happy but I wanted more so I had Fuel Moto install a 128 big bore and it is now outstanding! I could never go back to a stock 117 after having this. Bone stock my 117 was 91hp and 111tq, after the 128 big bore Im now 138hp and 150tq and it is like a completely different motorcycle. Good luck with your decision sir!
I like a loud deep sound on my bikes. Not annoyingly loud, anymore, but louder than most. My first bike had straight pipes and was really loud, Ive outgrown that level of volume.

Oops. I didn't notice you are in Ca. The HD 131 motor or the stage 4 kit might not be 50 state yet.

The CVO mufflers have more holes in the baffle. There a couple options that allow staying with the CVO muffler. Fulsac sells new baffle in three sizes the larger the louder. On my CVO mufflers I grind out the three spot welds that hold the baffle in, remove it, cut out the 5-6 inch baffle, reweld and reinstall. The end cap holds it in place if you don't want to redo the spot welds. Local welding shop bill was $15. Cheap easy mod with a nice sound that I can ride with all day.
Fullsac cores (baffles) in the CVO muffler with the tech mat and screens sound good, look good and look stock. If you ever build it, they are good for making big power also. Check my signature
