I’ve been looking for a slip on for a 21 SG.
Unfortunately my search has been limited to a online search.
I was completely sold on the magnaflow redline but after calling Arlen ness and magnaflow, their motorcycle muffler lines are defunct.
The next option seems to be the SS MK45’s
for a deep throaty sound that’s loud but still allows me to listen to the radio.
any other suggestions?
Suggestions on where to buy it?
I am fond of the S&S grand nationals. Fuel moto sells them as well as a few other places. They don't rob your low end like some other mufflers can do on the M8's.
I have the MK45 on my 2013 road glide and love the sound! Not too loud. You can either have the db reducers in or out. With them in you get more low end, but the sound isn't as loud or nice.
I ride once in a while with the radio off just to listen to them!
I have the MK45's and it's loud. Really loud. Douchebag loud. But I can still hear the radio.
Hmmm... that’s not been my experience. I have the S&S MK 45’s, and find them to be not as loud as Bassani or Reinhart, and slightly louder than stock. The sound is very deep and throaty, with a nice rumble. They also have a dB reducer, which is easily removable for a louder sound. Great pipes and 50 state compliant too.
I'm using the MK45's too. I have both extra baffles in.
Nice low rumble puttin' around.
But when they are at full song....it is a sound to behold. It's like being in a sound bubble.
It is a thumbs up for me.
Depending on your head-pipe, cat or no cat, performance or stock cams, big bore etc. all these variables will make a lot of difference. So the guy who says they are quiet probably has a mostly stock bike, compared to a heavily modified bike. Or he could just be half deaf ,like myself!
I put the grand nationals on my 20 SG last year. All stock otherwise, these sound nice and low at idle or cruising, and even nicer when accelerating. Not as loud as my buddies neighbor haters, but a much better sound.
This reminds me, I need to take out those DB reducers and see what they're like.
And FuelMoto had the best price and great service.
