Default $$ BAKER or SCREAMING EAGLE COMPENSATOR

I'm currently getting the parts together to do my compensator (including primary overhaul), drive belt and rear sprocket.

The Baker Cruise Drive Primary Bundle will cost me $1230 (CAD) to my door, then I'll have to get a new rotor still.
The HD Compensator Kit costs $528 (CAD) from my local dealer.

All in for the whole job (Comp, belt, sprocket and gaskets/ seals) the parts list from the local HD Dealer comes to $1270

What would you do?? I like the idea of the Baker set up but it comes at a premium. Is it worth it?

P.S. I'm on an 2007 Electra Glide approaching 100,000 kms.

Thanks!!

Personally, I'd put a Darkhorse Man O War comp on it. I did and am very happy with it.

I agree with Nomadmax....

I would go with the Darkhorse Man-O-War if I was replacing my compensator....

FWIW... I went to a solid engine sprocket to relieve myself of the HD compensator on my S&S crate engine... while I have no regrets with my decision, had I been aware of the Darkhorse unit when I made the change (it had just come out), I would have used their product...

I ran about 30,000 trouble feee miles with the Baker Compensator on my TriGlide.
Thats what I’d go with.

I had both the Screamin Eagle and Baker units (not the latest redesign) and the Baker is definitely a better design. When motor build time comes for my Street Glide I’ll most likely give the Darkhorse unit a try.

This is an older thread but I am interested in hearing long term feedback on the dark horse comp. The reason I have held off if numerous reports that state is is noisy.

what is difference in design between the too? Also curious about long term. You could probably put the stock one back in for 10k miles.

fwiw, I put a dark horse on my ride and immediately had the neutral rattle when it gets good and hot that was never noticed with the stock comp. I assume it is due to the power getting to the tranny un "smoothed" by the old comp. It will get ridden until something breaks, I'll fix it and ride some more.

On my 07 Electra Glide I went through 3 OEM compensators then 1 screaming Eagle under warranty, then at around 90000 miles I swapped the engine for a 103HO out of a 2014 Street Glide . While I had it apart I did the swingarm bearings and bushings, a Barnett clutch and a Baker compensator. I just sold the bike at 112000 miles and the guy I sold it to said , damn this bike clutches and shifts so solid. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Baker again…I know it costs a bit more but it’s solid.
