I had a 2004 Screamin Eagle Electra Glide with the 103 motor. Fantastic motor, loads of power, and great gas mileage. If I were in your shoes, I’d be looking for one of these 103s.

Your best deal would be to find some auctions and buy a salvage bike then you can get the Delphi stuff off it .

I was going to suggest the same thing....

As the tech told you, any 88" engine (2006 and older twin cam) will bolt right up...

But remember, you have an "A" engine... the "B" engine from a softail won't bolt up to your trans...

I would get a low mileage '01 or '02 Twin Cam 88" A engine... They have the hot forged cranks, lefty Timken bearing...

If you are going build an 88" Twin Cam... that's the best base to start with...

Good luck with your build....!

PS- If you want to build an EFI bike, you are much better off with the Delphi EFI than you would be with the MM EFI... No comparison really, on an engine you want to build... Delphi EFI all the way.. The Harley version of the MM is basically obsolete, there are fewer parts available, and they are not as easy to tune as the Delphi..

Hell, if you could find a crashed 2002 Bagger with low miles, but the engine is in good shape, you'd have all you need....!

My thoughts....

Depending on how much you’re attached and how much money you have invested already....

You might consider moving to a 2010 newer. There’s plenty out there and prices are reasonable. They already have the larger engine what you’re after. Plus.....there’s tons of upgrades the old 2000 model will never get.

As much as I like my 1998 Ultra.....the 2010+ models beat it in every way. More power, modern electronics, wide tire, ABS, larger fuel tank, and a 6 speed.

Just something to think about....from an economical standing point. If you can get all the stuff really cheap....then have fun!
