Default Engines comparable with 2000 road king classic frame

Hello Friends, I am trying to determine what engine cases I could get off a newer bike that will match up to my existing tranny. I have a 2000 Road King Classic with M&M. I want to get an old engine and build it to 107 or bigger and change out the M&M to a newer Delphi or maybe the thunder max. I want to get a case engine that will fit so I can build it this season and put it in this fall. Don’t want to miss this riding season with my current setup. Any help would be appreciated

If you're running the five speed, you'd need an engine from a five speed. The 96 won't bolt up to the 5spd trans. So the 88, which I assume you already have? Which begs the question, what happened to the engine?

I would almost think it be easier to get an engine and trans to go with it, but that's getting into the realm of I'm curious too, because at that point, I don't know.

get something from S&S, otherwise you are stuck with the cases that fit that frame/year new
Or get S&S cases, a S&S crank and build from there, but it would be easier and cheaper just to buy a monster S&S ready to drop in

143 cubes.... ya it is 10 grand but you are going to win the displacement contest every time

Thanks RIPbiker13! I am riding the bike with the current 88. I want to get another motor and build it between now and fall. In the fall, I can swap it out with the upgraded motor and then start building the original to a different spec. Just want to see what motors will boot up to my current tranny. The existing crankcase has a stripped bolt at the stator that I tapped and threaded but want to get that out of the bike. When searching for a motor to put in, I wanted to expand the years I can swap out to increase the choices.

That makes sense. I'll follow this if no more than curiosity on my part. Can you even get to 107 from 88? S&S may actually be a good option all things considered.

Neggy ZRXOA 5248, I talked to a Harley service tech today and he thought any motor from 2006 and below would bolt up to my tranny. Just trying to make sure what I buy from eBay fits my tranny. Want to start my build off right. I’ve seen the S&S hot setups and they are around 3k. I’d rather spend 3k than 10k. Half the fun is building it.
I built the current one with SE 510c, adjustable rods, heavy duty springs and added 4”baritones. Just want to get beyond 96.

Biggest you can get with the 4" stroke is a 100"drop on kit. Want bigger you're into a stroker crank. Yes its fun to build and expensive

you may be limited by the cases as far as going stroked.... without clearancing the cases, but have you considered going exotic and putting a turbo on it?

Keep in mind up to 02 has the Timken bearing. You can upgrade 03-06 to Timken but its more money. Most likely you will be doing the crank anyway.
Your best deal would be to find some auctions and buy a salvage bike then you can get the Delphi stuff off it .
