I need to stretch out. I was used to a wider stance than the stock floorboard position allows. So I was glad to hear of the Soos floorboard extenders. Quite by accident I picked up a highway peg kit off the wall at a Harley dealer for a set of foot pegs. I had already installed those prior to installing the Soos extenders and they were okay, but after installing the Soos extenders, this is a great combination so I thought I'd share it.
The adjustable highway peg mounting kit is on page 475 of the new 2008 Harley catalog, and it is part number 50829-07. I like them because they follow along with th elines of the crash bars and put the foot peg right where I need it to be. With the floor-board extenders I can put my heel on the floorboards and put my toe on the pegs in numerous positions, from stretched just a bit, to stretched out much more.
Here's a couple pics to give you an idea. I've got a 32 inch inseam and this works perfect for me.
oh yeah.. neither Soos or Harley paid me to write this.
That is similar to how I did mine on my Street Glide. Makes it feel like forward controls. I'm having the whole engine guard taken off the SG and moved to my Road Glide so I don't have to try to reposition them again.
Those may be just the ticket for my RG. I am not a big fan of highway pegs and having my feet too far away from the foot controls. But these are damn fine.. Nice find and thanks!
The floorboard extenders are what make it all come together, as they bring you just a small amount, but it makes a big difference.. I can move my size 9 all over the place on them and it feels much more comfotable, even without using the pegs.. adding the pegs just gives you lots of options. Seems to work especially well for me with my 32 inch inseam, but I think it would for longer or shorter legs too.
Old Hippie:
Does the extension out on the floorboard allow the board to fold up vertical now? Mine hit the exhaust pipe. A friend broken several bones in his foot when he was caught by the floor board when he laid it over on his foot.
