Good Morning all. I have 2 different type questions… . Has anyone else noticed that the wind hits you differently on a SG (I guess all touring bikes, but I only have an SG) compared to regular bikes? It kind of blows "up" for me, pushing my shirt up and my beard! Which leads to my next question, what do you do to keep your beard from blowing up into your face? I tuck it under my helmet strap, but that doesn't help much.
Thanks for any ideas, ride safe!

On a stock SG you get wind blowing literally from over the top of the shorty windshield unless you are very diminutive in stature (i.e. not tall), and from either side of the tank up in your face and torso. Many threads here discussing wind management. The consensus is a) taller recurve windshield, and b) fork fangs, and for some folks, C) bolt on wings on the sides of the batwing.
I’m 6’3" so I opted for an 8” recurve windshield and Harley fork “fangs". My problem with wind is completely solved. I also have a Kuryakyn triple tree (dog dish) wind deflector that had nominal impact in my case, but it is also installed. Manages wind coming between the forks under the headlight.
I have what gonemad has on my bike as well. The fangs (wind deflectors) will probably make the biggest difference. I just put on JES Fangs and went from a 9" to 10" LRS windshield due to the Airhawk pad and sheepskin on the seat lifted me up higher.
I saw little improvement from the Kuryakyn triple tree but it's installed as well.
I've got JES fangs.....
I've got the dog dish......
I use anywhere from 6" to 10" recurves, (depends on time of year)
And I have adjustable wings on the outside of the fairing.......
NO problem with wind nor buffeting

No, its just not touring bikes. Had heritages and fat boys with windshields and still get the wind from underneath. I wear a leather bandana for the spring and fall and the wife will put a hair band on my goatee in the hot weather. If u wear sunblock, u defiantly need something or its not long and u wont be seeing much, other than a blur.
