I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find this answer:
Does anyone know the actual open pipe measurements of the 2013 Road King OEM header pipes. I am looking for a quick answer and hope I get lucky or will just have to pull them apart to measure myself. I am looking to put baffles at the header pipe opening and need the exact measurement. Thank You all...great forum !!
Thanks Mike .I havent removed the pipes. I was attempting to buy Thunder City baffles, but my pipe at the end is 3 ź inches. Thunder City states I would need to install it at the header pipe as they dont make one big enough. This is all new to me. I just know I hate the sound I have now and never listened to my Dad when he was working on bikes,...now I dont have the skills I need
Hey Mike....I am just trying to get a lower growl from my pipes. I am in California, so I am sure that it probably has the cat in there somewhere. So if putting a baffle in "is not the way to go"...what is the way to go? ( I have baffles I should say...there just installed at the tail pipe end and I can't seem to find larger baffles that accomplish what I am trying to do)
Thanks for all your help Mike

Reason: Message was not clear on baffles
So if you want more growl for the exhaust, I'd do with some different slip on mufflers. But California has some requirements based on the CARB standards including a sticker that shows the slip ons are CARB compliant, which includes a limitation on which exhaust will meet the standard.
If you want a rumble at idle and a roar on acceleration, the S&S MK45's are a good option but you need to look around before deciding. Check out the exhaust section here, and Google for sound clips on Youtube of different slip on mufflers that fit your bike. S&S has audio clips of their exhaust included on their site, so check them out. And remember that other components and modifications like a cam, head pipe and air cleaner contribute to the sound (note) of the exhaust, so you will need to hear slip on mufflers on a bike with the same or very similar components as what you have.
