Default Cuts out when accelerating

Hey y’all i have a 2001 Road King EFI that is cutting out when i accelerate> I pulled out fuel pump assembly thinking fuel issue. First thing i notice is that the casing the fuel pump is like a black plastic type material that has deteriated and crumbled away see pics.... so i assume fuel filter for sure but i can blow threw it with no restriction at all. Fuel pump was working fine. Any help appreciated

First I would check the bike for error codes , one may have registered while it was cutting out . Yes , that fuel pump looks like it's seen better days , still original maybe . Honestly , if it were me , I would replace all the innards of the tank , pump , filter and hoses , then change out the fuel pressure regulator on the TB , especially if your bike's a keeper .

More detail is needed , what do you mean by cutting out ? Check for error codes , might lead you in the right direction . At this point , it could be a number of things .

I had that trouble on my '00 FLTRSEI when I was out of state and a dealership near me correctly diagnosed my problem as a failing throttle position sensor. I could still ride home the 400 miles to the house and I'd bought an entire MM throttle body off of EBay for parts previously so I did my own fix for very little money.
(And yeah, my fuel pump looked like yours at another time when I replaced it with a brand new $60 unit off of EBay (now 8 years ago,) I used R-10 neoprene from NAPA for the plumbing that time around.

Cutting out under load is usually a fuel issue. If you are planning to keep her for a while, I’d replace the fuel pump, and fuel filter, and clean out the fuel lines.

this is good advice. Sounds like your bike is starving for fuel when under load. Replace the entire assembly (filter, regulator, pump), they all wear out with age.

OP not to be argumentative, but when you say it "cuts out" does it sputter (like its low on fuel,) or shut off, (like someone threw the kill switch on it?)

It spits and sputters does not turn off. So My fuel pressure regulator is not connected to filter or anywhere inside tank with pump mechanism. Am I missing something?

Ok so I can not locate the fuel pressure regulator anywhere, it doesn’t connect to the fuel filter like all other I’ve seen. Any ideas where it could be located?

Ok guys I’ve replaced the fuel pump, filter, regulator (on throttle body) and lines inside tank. Now the bike starts up and idles fine. Even revs like normal when twisting throttle. Idles and Revs up great in neutral but as soon as I put any load on it in gear it bogs down more throttle more bogging until it cuts out and dies. Any ideas?
