I’m looking for a little help. I changed my oil & filter and put in 4 qts like the owners manual said. Now I’m getting a high oil indicator on the electronic dipstick. Can anyone clarify the engine oil capacity for me please.
The dip stick does not have manual marks? You do not do oil changes by some god only knows electronic dip stick or the owners manual on amount. You put about 3/4 less then it says in book. Start it to fill filter. Turn it off an give it a couple three minutes to run down.
Now add to mid stick with bike in proper position for stick calibration.
On stand or level. Should be on stick.
Now drive it and get it HOT. Top off to full. Done that way, you will have reserve so you probably never add between changes. BUT CHECK IT. And done that way does not make it blow any more oil in filter box.

My Harley electronic dipstick always indicates higher on the LCD than the factory dipstick. Don't sweat it. If it's a bit high you'll notice the air cleaner gets really oily. I always run mine between 3 and 3.5 qts. I give the button a check every time I get gas, so that I know if it's getting low.

This I always top a twinkie at 3 1/2 qts and keep in mind there's always some left in the motor & oil circuit when you change it. Refill with 3 qts after a change, bring to temp check and top off as needed. This will also help over spray from the air cleaner and crank breather system.

Keep in mind, it is a dry sump system, so its not perfect in scavenging all the residual oil. Not to mention what is still in the lines, and oil cooler (if equipped). 3.5 Quarts, ride, check when warm.
I’m definitely not a fan of this dipstick. It does have manual marks. I don’t trust the lcd either that’s why I posted. Unfortunately this is what the bike came with. I have to get a factory dipstick. Thanks guys
