OP, I'm a little over 150 away from you and if the CVO is down my way I could put eyes on it for you.

I also bought new 2009, 2014,and 2018 Street Glides. My 2014 & 2018 were both Specials. In 2013 when the 2014 SGS came out and being new to Ga and its vastness I particularly enjoyed the Infotainment system with the GPS. It gave me much more confidence to go off alone. I also love my music so the Bluetooth and jumpstick capabilities were a big plus for me. The 14 and up models made a change in the rear shocks and also changed to 49mm front forks plus the 14's had the new type easy open and close saddlebags.

Good luck with your decision.

2009 or newer. The fame update was a big reason to move up.

With the 2009 frame change you got bigger tires that were better suit for the size and weight of the bikes. By 2011 103 was standard on RGU and ABS. 2012 rest of the Touring line got 103 Standard. 2014 Rushmoore. Redesigned bags and tour pack alone with new radio system. No Road Glide that year they were retool the faring line. Water cooled heads a big thing. 2016 saw some improvements in the 103. Then of course the 2017 the M8.
Right now the market is inflated. You will like pay a premium price for any year you purchase. Each of the improvements Mentioned were good and are desirable. If the cost does not break the budget.
I have put a lot of miles on 2007,2011,2013, 2016, 2017 and working on miles on a 2020 every one of them was a good ride that served us well. The more you plan to ride the newer you should consider.

Hey, appreciate the offer to look at it for me.... but by the time you had posted I had pretty much decided to look at 2014 and later bikes. The CVO was in Augusta, not sure how close that was to you, but gotta say it was very tempting !! All the bikes for sale by private owners were already taken (on Cycle Trader) and I swung by a dealership today and they had a 2019 Street Glide and I grabbed it. More about that in a separate post. But again, I certainly appreciate that offer, very nice of you !!

Guys, I sure do appreciate all the info and advice you provided !! I changed my mind about getting an "older" bike and was going to look at 2014 and later. I went by Killer Creek HD (Roswell, GA) and they had several used Street Glides and I ended up grabbing a 2019 in black with 2000 miles on it. One of you above mentioned bikes being a little scarce and there being a bit of a "premium" on them and the sales guy mentioned the same thing. So yeah, I did spend just a little more than I was planning to, but not so much that it was painful. And the sales guy I dealt with was very cool, no pressure and just answered my questions and showed me the various ones they had and made the buying experience pleasurable. I've had some bad experience in car dealerships, but have to say that hasn't been the case in the 3 different HD dealerships I've bought in.

I didn't get a chance to get any pictures today, once I closed the deal I got out on it did some riding, but man... that head unit is something else. Very nice.

Congrats on the new bike.
You have first year of the new GTS Boom radio, faster/nicer then the few years prior.
Coming from an 05 Ultra myself to my current 19 Limited…you’re in for a helluva treat.

Default New for 2011 and up HDCAN buss means lighter wiring harness.

The MoCo switched to a CAN buss on all 2011 Touring models. This replaced a lot of fuses due to the ACM, accessories control module, and less current running through the ignition switch.

So pre 2011 Touring fuses and heavier wiring harness with high current loads going through the ignition switch.

Post 2010 Touring and all models I believe when Rushmore came out got the H-D CAN buss making for lighter wiring harness and simpler switches, sending 1 & 0s to the ACM for activation of or deactivation of lights, horn flashers and infotainment controls.

But the CANBUS type made a change. The 2011 bikes had an antiquated system when HD introduced the bike. I believe the Rushmores went to a more universal J1939.
