i posted this on the “Ignition/Tuning” section, but have gotten no responses. I figured maybe I would try it here.
I am the 2nd owner of the bike. Engine wise is all stock, just stage 1 stuff. original owner had Rinehart True Duals, SE air cleaner and a PCIII installed on the bike and had it Dyno’d. When he did this the also plugged the o2 ports in the headers and capped the connectors.
Since I have owned it I have changed the SE air cleaner for an S&S and replaced the PCIII with a V&H FP3. (PCIII crapped out)
My question is, would it benefit me to reinstall o2 sensors to allow the FP3 to work?
V&H said it would be close as is, but I am just wondering if it would be better with the o2 sensors?
please help me out. Thanks.
In a street driven bike, I would rather have the benefit of the O2 sensor feedback.....
The OEM tunes are only partial open loop and partial closed loop tunes. The O2 sensors work mostly in the cruising areas of the tune. Having that O2 sensor feedback, IMHO, is beneficial in that area of the tune map for a street driven bike...
FWIW... I have no experience with the PCIII. If it is a flash tuner, then your open loop tune will be close enough that it's just personal preference one way or the other... I believe it is a piggy back tuner. If so, I would think you would want those O2 sensors reinstalled and turned on ASAP, since you would be back to your OEM tune without the benefit of the O2 sensor feedback... Again, not sure how the PCIII works, I could be wrong on that..

I guess my post was confusing.
The bike HAD a PCIII (a piggyback device)and removed the o2 sensors and had it dyno’d.
The PCIII took a crap and I replaced it with a V&H Fuelpak 3, which is a flash tuner. I used the closest map and asked V&H about it…they said it would be close, but without the o2 sensors it could only do so much.
I am wondering if I should buy new sensors and reinstall them.

Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for the help.
OK, I understand now.. I suspect my reading "skill" was to blame for my confusion
I will stick with the first part of my post, "In a street driven bike, I would rather have the benefit of the O2 sensor feedback....."
I'd install the O2 sensors and turn them back on (in the tune)...
