Default The Ol' Sundowner Conundrum...

Bought a new to me '19 Street Glide Special and it came with a Sundowner. I'm a short dude (31" inseam) and with the Legend Revo ARCs I put on I can BARELY touch. I've heard the sundowner rides higher than factory, but can anyone confirm by how much? I'm thinking Lapera Monterey which sits even an inch lower than factory... feedback for a new-to-touring rider?

Can you lower the rear suspension? Sundowner is a good seat especially for the passenger...

it had 12" springs when I got it and scraped the pipes/bottomed out a lot. I'm generally just not a fan of the Sundowner, it's too big and bulky for me. That's why I'm kind of wondering what the difference is between the 2.

I thought the sundowner was lower than stock, at least that was my experience. Perhaps getting the seat reworked by Mean City would assist.

The Sundowner sits in about the same position of a stock dresser seat. A SG seat sits down and back further than a dresser seat. Probably a inch back and a inch down.

Better remeasure your inseam. I've got a 30" inseam and I can easily flatfoot a dresser with stock 13" shocks and a Sundowner seat! Your SG has only 12" shocks. That translates to about 1/2" lower than a Limited at the seat.

I too have a 30" inseam and can easily flat foot an Ultra Classic with 13" shocks and stock seat, with a gel pad inserted in it and a sheepskin seat cover on top.

So, upon further evaluation it appears this isn't a Sundowner seat, but is a Reach seat? Part/seat number 24688? Can anyone confirm?

24688 is not a seat part number. I have an OEM MY ‘14 Street Glide seat I bought for my Ultra Limited and it has that same number.

That’s a low. You need longer legs.

Set your sag on the Revo. Better ride and generally will adjust the height when sitting on it. They aren’t plug and play. Weight does make a difference. There are a lot of videos showing the process on YouTube.

LOW is stamped on a lot of seats that aren’t low seats. My OEM SG seat has that same LOW stamped on it.
