On my 2016 FLTRU, the wheels have what appears to be corrosion. If you rub your finger over it it's smooth but I cannot remove it with any of the usual cleaners etc. Looking for products and methods that will work.
Did you just notice, or has this been there for awhile? How often do you wash the bike (wheels)? Also, do you ride bike when roads are still covered w/ winter treatment (e.g. salt, brine, sand)? Looks like you have oxidized wheels (they're aluminum) and getting the right cleaning product should clear that up, but need to keep treating, to prevent fm returning.
Just Google "oxidation on wheels" and you'll see the why & how to fix.

Have tried 0000 steel wool and Mothers polish. Lots of elbow grease and it took a long time for a 3 inch area of the wheel but I did make headway.
I normally use this Flitz metal polish. You might try this Flitz precleaner to get some of the crud removed first. Either way, looks like some elbow grease to get it back to looking new again.
A friend lives by the coast and his forks and wheels looked like that. He used Flitz and it looks like new again.
