It amazes me that the solution to the hammering problem is something that the Japs have been doing from the beginning. It wasn't until I came to this forum that I realized Harleys did not have a cushioned final drive. I thought all bikes had it. I'll be due for a rear tire soon. Maybe time to get it done if I can squeeze it into the budget.
Many people have been complaining about this problem. Now we have a fix and it's simple and easy. You'd think harley would do a recall or at least offer the owners of the affected bikes a big discount. Maybe a letter writing campaign to the MOCO is in order. The worst they can do is say"NO" which the will most likely do. I think I'll write a letter now.
I've read posts on this forum where people have had the bolts back out of the rear sprocket. Could it be due to vibration that this kit eliminates? A basis for a recall? Or even a class action lawsuit, though I'll be called a rabble rouser for this. I did send a letter to my Dealer about this, challenging the GM to take a 07 Touring bike without the kit and ride it, then have the kit installed and try it. I'm sure it won't do any good but I feel a little better getting it off my chest.
My question, and it's probebly a little to early to ask ,but what wheel's will this fit and not fit? here is harley's discription right out of the book....
Original Equipment and Harley-DavidsonÂŽ accessory wheels. Will not fit with 80-Spoke Laced Wheel P/N 42954-04, Polished Spun Aluminum Disc Wheel P/N 43760-03 or Slotted Six Spoke Wheel P/N 43932-02 (chrome) or 43933-02 (black)
I'd love to add this to my Street Glide but I'm running after market wheels (16" Black Bike Cycle Custom wheels) Is there any way other then purchasing this and attempting to bolt in on to find out if they will work? Good question, I hope I hear a good answer, thx, Rich A
