Default Performance programmer

My question is on my 2014 street glide with a nearly stock 103 what will a programmer do for me, is it worth the money, and which is the best option and your opinion on why it’s the best option. I have an Arien Ness 45 degree air intake and I’ve installed Scott 8mm performance plug wires, and run Redline fluids.. that’s all I’ve done to the bike as of right now and just looking to see what my next upgrade should be, and I feel like it should be some sort of programmer but not sure which one..

Pretty sure I would do the exhaust next. Slip-ons for sure to change the note and the flow a little bit, then either a completely new header set up or at least de-cat the existing headers. Then.......... a tune. But that me. The wires and fluids make NO difference to the performance, although some diehard Redliners will tell you the fluid adds 5 HP, lol.

Default plan

You really need to plan even if $ are short, otherwise you will waste a lot of time and money. If all you are going to do is exhaust and filter probably not a great point in spending a fortune on tuners etc unless she runs poor. If you are set to go cams high comp, heads etc then go a power vision tuner. If you going that way then you need to get a decent exhaust to suit the plan. Remember the five P's Planning, prevents, ****, poor, performance.

I have a 2014 Road King with a Power Vision, AC and Rush 2 into 1 exhaust. Before the exhaust I had added VIED to the bike for more fuel.

It seemed to me that the Power vision made more power and smoothed the engine out than the VIED. Plus the Power Vision can change for any other mods you do in the future.

With the PV there is an enhanced stock tune available that you could add now that should help with cooling and performance. From there it just goes on and on...

I hope this helps.

A tuner will make the bike run better no matter what setup you have.
It should lower engine temps and give a little performance.
Plus when you ready to upgrade your exhaust it's a simple thing to update the tune.
You will also be able to adjust throttle response and decel popping.
I do agree with everyone else in that you need to upgrade your exhaust.
You have a free flowing air cleaner, why not have a free flowing exhaust to maximize your power.
I'm running a Heavy Breather Air Cleaner, V&H Dresser Duals Header, Cobra Race Pro Slip-ons and a V&H FP3 tuner.

A programmer is like any other tool as that is what they are. Will it do any good for you is as much about the tool as it is about the person operating it. There are tools that are very limited in what they can do and others that have many many more features and can do a much better job, if the operator of the tool knows what they are doing. So what is it you want, Cheap, Easy or a Complete tool set? If you buy cheap that's what your going to get and if and when you do more upgrades your going to be back looking for another tool to do the job. It's your choice and your money so think about what you are going to ever do before buying a tool that may not do the job, when you need it to.
