Default CB compatability

Will a CB module from a 2014 Ultra Limited pair with a 2020 Ultra Limited? I put the switchpack and module from a 2014 into my 2020 and took it to the dealer to be flashed. The dealer said the ECM didn't recognize the CB module.

Did I do something wrong or are the part incompatable?

It should work as it's the same CB module (76000486A) from 2014 to current...there is only one. I added it (along with the switchpack, mounting stud & antenna) to my 2020 RGL...dealer activated it and I'm good to go.

Your dealer doesn't know what they're doing. Find a new dealer.

Was the module working before you installed it? Recheck your connections. If it's working and installed correctly the bike should recognize it.

I traded my 2015 FLHTK in on a 2020 FLHTK and was told the 2015 cb module would not work with the new GTS system the module had to be updated to the new 76000486A that's the new part number and it is backwards compatible for 14 15 16 and 17 models. The cb module in my 15 was the 76000486 no A at the end it won't work with the New GTS system. I just took them at there word I didn't try the older module but the new one works great.
I did have a problem in the factory wiring harness though the mic and mic shield were crossed in 1 of the plugs from the factory that was repaired under warranty.

As I mentioned earlier, there is only one CB module (kit) listed for 2014 + so I'd be very surprised if the module from you 2015 didn't work in the 2020. I suspect the modules are most likely the same, and the "A" designation is for a different bracket or something in the kit. When I got my 2020 RGL last summer, I was told I could not add CB to it. As I soon figured out, the only reason they said it can't be added was a mounting issue. Harley came up with their HD-Connect (On Star type system) for 2020 and mounted the HD-Connect module in the traditional CB module mounting location. I ordered the CB kit and mounted it on the other side and worked just fine. And by the way, the wiring, antenna cable, etc are all there.

Well Harley discontinued HD-Connect after a short 6 months or so. Guess what? Now they show that a CB can in fact be added to a 2020. It was strictly a case of mounting. Over the years, I've added a number of Harley items to my bikes that they said can't/won't work.

Guys at the parts counter only know what they read in the P&A fitment guides.

I installed a 6.5GTS in my 2014 FLHTK. Used my oem 2014 CB (early build bike, took delivery Aug 30, 2013). CB works just fine with the new 6.5GTS radio.

I stopped at the dealer today as some parts that I ordered were in. Spoke to the service writer who had contacted HD Tech support. They are going to take it back in on the 17th. I'll keep you posted.

I know some have suggested a different dealer, but I will give two thumbs up to Moroney's in New Windsor, NY. Excellent customer service (thanks Kim)!
