The belt on my '18 FLHXS tracks pretty much dead center in the pulley.

FWIW, I use the JIMS 3rd hand tool to hold the weld nut stationary while I torque the cone nut.

I'm using this one. It has worked well for me.

Why not just use two wrenches? What is the advantage of third hand?

Clearly you are not JIMS looking to make a solution looking for a problem!

Just Google it and take your pick from a variety of online sellers.

It's called working smarter, not harder. Once the tool is locked in place, I can walk around to the other side of the bike and focus on cone nut torque knowing the weld nut will remain absolutely stationary.

I don't have my service manual yet, hopefully will be in next week but how does one align the rear wheel? my Dyna has bold adjustable belt tensioners and marks on the swing arm to measure alignment. the touring has only the cams and looks like no alignment marks.

There is nothing in my 2019 Touring service manual about rear wheel alignment that’s why I started this thread. I’ve only had my Street Glide for a few months so I figured I’d ask for some advice. The only thing the manual really talks about as far as the rear wheel is setting the belt tension

Theoretically, the cams will always keep it aligned, but I don't trust those cams anymore.

My belt failed at 25k. The belt started to split on the left side so I checked my alignment. I used the the string method, and also measured from axel to swingarm pivots.
I discovered my wheel was not properly aligned. It was pointed to the left, which put extra strain on the outer edge of my belt.

When I aligned my wheel (axel) to the swing arm pivots, I had about .035 space on the right cam adjuster (in the photo).

I ended up welding a bead on the adjuster and grinding smooth to fill in the space, and match the left side cam.

Thanks for all the help !
Motion Pro make a 36mm socket/extension that does not require you to remove the muffler. Check it out it worked well for me.
