I have one of those plugs that bypass the need for WHIM. I have my phone plugged in via cable so I can have AppleCar play on the screen. Would I be able to use one of those communication systems in my helmet AND have music streaming to it, while keeping the Apple CarPlay on the screen?
I have 2 headsets (wired) for my half helmets that came with my UL when new...NEVER USED THEM......the last thing I want to do while riding is talk to my wife or answer phone calls....NEITHER of which is important to me!.....She can tap my shoulder and yell if she needs to tell me something and phone calls can wait until I stop. I just turn up the radio volume, listen to the speakers and I'm a happy camper!

I have 2021 Roadglide Special. And have a few problems with it's infotainment system.
1. I have Schuberth C4 with Sena SC1S , is it possible to connect to H-D's system or should I buy H-D own helmet with Sena 30k?
2. Headphone icon on the home screen is greyed out and in settings there are no head set option at all. How to proceed to couple head set to the system?
Thanks in advance!
Regards, Jontte
Jontte,
For what it's worth...I have a 2019 Street Glide Special and this is my set-up.
1. WHIM installed (took a few minutes).
2. Dealer activated the WHIM.
3. Purchased a SENA Harley Davidson 30K and mounted it to my 3/4 helmet.
4. Purchased a CarPlay2Air and connected it to the USB port in the little phone compartment. The CarPlay2Air stays in the compartment...my iPhone is in my jacket pocket.
5. Turn on helmet mounted SENA.
6. Turn on Harley.
7. Hear Connected.
8. Apple Car Play comes up.
9. Able to take calls, use Siri, listen to streaming music or playlists. And listen to and send Text Messages.
10. Ride with a big smile on my face.
What a cluster**** with these things. This should be one damn button push for BT and thats it. Ridiculous that one has to buy $400 worth of **** to make headphones work.
lt really depends on what you are looking for. I would spend the money on a better headset, the Cardo PackTalk, instead of a WHIM. I have a WHIM and never use it. To get most of what you need, all you need to do is plug in your phone to the USB port - this will allow you to play your music through your bikes stereo, and pair your phone to your Bluetooth headset, whichever one you have. This will get you 90% of the functionality you are looking for.

+1 on the Cardo! I find I don't even bother plugging the phone in...it's BT paired to both the Boom GTS & my Cardo PackTalk Bold. I can listen to music either through my headset speakers (JBL) or the bikes upgraded system. Communication is fantastic and when a phone call comes in, it comes up on the GTS screen and I can decide to answer or ignore (I usually choose to ignore). If it's plugged in, then I can use CarPlay as well. The only thing I believe I'm missing is CB through to the Cardo but I hardly use that anymore.
