Default Sticky/ Notchy Throttle By Wire

Guys ever sense my grip and bar swap on my '10 RGC the throttle has been notchy and sticky. Before with the stock setup it was smooth as butter. The bars are a 13" LA Choppers and the grips are Avon. There is plenty on play side to side with the grip it is not binding there. When I grab the end of the throttle sensor and move it i can feel the same notchy feeling I feel with the grip on. This has been like this for 4 years yep 4 years now and I cant take it haha. Odd tho I did take it apart the housing and the grip just to see and for one day of riding the smooth as butter awesome feeling was there and gone as fast very odd. The majority of.i do I find is saying the entire sensor is bad meaning I'll need to take my fairing back off to find the end of the wires and feed a new sensor in. Those who know, know this to be a major PITA. I have found a few posts stating some dry lube worked to rid the sticky feeling. Please guys save me from a RG faring removal and wire feed in the bars that already have the switch wires in there too making it a super tight fit. I'd rather sell the damn thing lol! Side note the sticking is not supper bad like throttle won't return bad just that annoying little notch feeling and not super smooth easy feeling.

Loosen the throttle side clamps, and move the whole pack about 1/16 -1/8 of an inch, outward. The throttle grip can get clicky if it is pushed on all the way.

Thanks I can try moving it out ward a touch more but to me there is the right amount of play when you move the grip side to side. When twisting the little gear end itself it feels sticky and binds. No way to get lube inside it?

I have tried moving the switch housing in and out up down left right so on many times to no avail. Makes no difference in the sticky notchy feel. Its not super bad just super annoying its not smooth. I even tried some on blaster dry graphite lube. **** was that a mess. Did nothing. How are you guys lubing these stupid things to un stick them. A new assembly will fix it I am sure but FML it is zero fun to do. Seriously will sell this bike before going that rout.

does the TGS stick without the grip and clamp in place. have you tried reinstalling the stock grip. I had issues with the TGS sticking when I installed my avons too. kept adjusting the clamp and grip until I got it right.

Just fixed mine.Take the grip off and spread the inside of the grip and the handlebar with dry lube. Works like a charm now.

It does have a sticky feel when I twist it with the grip off and grab the gear end itself. I am sure the entire sensor is worn out. But have read of many lubing it up somehow but I cant seem to get any lube inside it.

Had the same issue with my LA Choppers twin peaks bars.
Removed the grip, took some very fine Emory cloth and went around the whole bar to smooth out.
Cleaned it with brake cleaner, then used a dry graphite lube for it…fine since. It drove me crazy too…
I believe I used some dry bicycle chain lube…I think…lol

Well looks like the inky way to fix this is a new sensor. That means yet again the front fairing will be back off (just had it off many times for realignment issues) and then fight internal wiring the new sensor with the switch wires in the bars too. What a treat this will be. No lube I tried fixed it. The sensor is still sticky notchy feel when it should be super smooth thru the entire movement and take not much effort to turn it.
