Default Luggage for Ultra

After my nice, beautiful…2 day trip in northern MI…then getting caught in the rain on the way home, I’m convinced. Luggage.
I want something I can put on my passenger seat when I’m solo riding with buds, but something I can strap to my tour pack when wifey is with me as well.
Something I can put a little bit of clothes in and most importantly, my full face helmet and rain gear.

Waterproof with straps to the seat and/or tour pack luggage rack. Many of you have done this more times than I may ever….give me some places/ideas for good, compact luggage.
Thanks!

We use the Kuryakyn Full Dresser bags on the passenger seat. You can even put the Full Face Helmet in the top of the bag. I just bought a nelson Rigg to go on the tour pak.

I bought this dry bag
Amazon Amazon
and it worked great on a recent 5k mile trip. Had 2 FF helmets, rain gear, a blanket and a jacket in it.

Talking RicjRack Top Dekk II Tourpak Mount bag

I bought a Rickrack Top Dekk II for my FLHTK and it has far and away the best mounting system I have ever used. It has a strapless frame mount which you can put on and take off the tourpak frame in about 30 seconds - and it is very secure. You can even lock the bag to the bike for added security.
A really well designed product which I recommend wholeheartedly - check out the youtube video which demonstrates how it works. I originally bought a Harley Davidson bag but with its straps I no longer use it after getting the Rickrak - get one - you won't be disappointed.

For solo riding check out the HD onyx Backseat roller bag - it looks to be well designed. It converts to a "trolley bag" for ease of transport and it fits the rear seat area perfectly.

I have the same waterproof duffle bag that 702 posted. Comes in different sizes and colors and I can attest it is waterproof - no need for a cover. I ride solo 80% of the time and it's my go-to bag for my FF helmet, rain gear and leathers or stuff I can easily get to w/o going into the saddlebags. One normally goes on the passenger seat on my King, or one on the seat and another on the luggage rack if I leave my chopped TP at home.

Not for nothing 702, I used to use a yellow, waterproof duffle like yours for years. Then I went looking for black on the red FLHTK and I found these from Storm Tech:

Your yellow one looks like a Storm Tech.

Black is beautiful, baby!

Perfect. They offer two sizes, looks like a 60L and an 80L size, do you know which you went with?
I see a few with “water resistant” features but I really would not rather deal with a cover…

I tie up my bags and pack with enough stuff, I want something to keep rain gear, FF helmets, chaps…etc., that I don’t “Plan” on using, but when you need it…you need it.
Thanks 702 and all for the suggestions. Birthday coming up…and wifey needs ideas!!

Ive tried a few different bags for the tourpack rack. In the end, I ended up buying the HD Onyx rack bag.

The others were ok but they either didnt sit right on the rack, or were too big and allowed me to overpack, or were too wide or too tall for my liking. The HD bag fit just right and had enough room to put the right amount of items without overloading the rack. The size and profile worked for me. I used it recently on a 8k trip and was very happy with its functionality.

For me, it was one of the items that buying HD worked in my case. I tried to like and make the other bags work, but alas it wasnt to be.

I went with the 80L. It's just a couple inches wider that the rack on my tour pack.

TY sir.
I can see both my wife and I putting our full face helmets in the bag to travel…I appreciate the heads up.

BTW…. That denim red is gorgeous. I drool every time I see pics of your bike… lucky you.

Thanks again.
