The forum looks different from last visit, I don't know if
I'm posting this in the right spot, I can't find; ''troubleshooting or diagnostics''
Yesterday when I was out and about, my keyfob wasn't recognized,
the flashers went back and forth, only the headlight and running
lights worked, nothing else. I replaced the keyfob battery still nothing,
disconnected and reconnected the ecu, then it recognized keyfob and
started.
It sounded fine but ran rough on acceleration, like 1/2 power, eventually ran fine.
Today I went to start it, and it started but ran really rough and shut back
down.
Changed spark plugs, checked plug wires (visual inspection) look new.
It coughs and sputters, then pull throttle and it will sput and quit.
It was too hot when I started trouble shooting, to go very long will
get back at it in the morning, but I wonder if this is some weird coincidence
that the keyfob was not recognized, and suddenly it starts running
terrible or... it always has run great , with exception of a fuel line failure,
whereby it didn't run at all.
Just throwing this out now, maybe someone has some ideas. :shrugs:
Thanks.
Could be a plugged fuel filter , if you end up going into the tank , I would change out the fuel hose and pressure regulator as well , especially if your bike is a keeper . The fuel filter should be changed at 25k , and the hose is usually on it's way out at that time too .
The best way of knowing if you have a fuel issue , is by doing a pressure test , but if that's not possible , depending on the miles you have , I would do it anyway .

Thanks man, great looking bike!
Yeah, that pressure test is coming up in the am, I bought
one when the bike quit running a few months ago. New everything in-tank,
but will pressure test anyway. Have some choke intake (crc) coming
next week, I kinda don't think that will be the issue, but seems like
a good maintenance thing, something I stumbled on while searching today.

Great , I've heard of fuel filter housing coming loose or hose letting go , could be an o-ring in the quick release being fudged inside and not letting it completely set in place .
Curious to know what you find , keep us posted , good luck !
Agree with firedude , try running some seafoam , 1 ounce / gal . It shouldn't take to long to clear things up , it that is the case .
"disconnected and reconnected the ecu, then it recognized keyfob andstarted"
Maybe your ECU is on the fritz or has some corrosion on the connectors. That could be the cause of the rough running of the engine. Something to look at anyway... Do a search here on the forum there seems to be something with the 2008-09 years ECMs being replaced.
