Default PCIII help

I have an 05 FLHRSI with hard chrome true duals and a kuryakyn skull air cleaner kit with the k&n filter. I had this and the PCIII done at the end of last season and all was good, however since the start of this season every 2000 miles or so the bike starts running rough. The rough running is due to plugs getting fouled. The rear cylinder plug looks alot worse than the front one, it obviously running too rich. I was just wondering what map you guys would recommend, the guy who put it in installed the reinhart true dual, screamin eagle airfilter, and stock ECM map. I was working alot of hours last year and had it done, guess I should of done it myself. Anyway any help you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and sorry for the long post.

If you feel the map is anywhere close you could just open the map and try leaning things up in the ranges you ride in most. If you do a lot of open road riding lowering the numbers in the 5 & 10 % throttle and 2000rpm to 3000rpm range might be enough to make the difference. Most maps I have seen are a bit rich. Which is better than to lean. A lot depends on your riding style. You can also go to the Power Commander web site and look through the maps to find somthing that might be closer.

Ride Safe,

Mike

I agree with StreetGlide. Lower the values a little at a time and check your plugs until you find what's right for you. If you have the PCIII USB, you can also change the value of the rear cylinder differently than the front since you are running true duals. That should help with the rear plug somewhat.

What kind of mpg are you getting?

Are you sure they are not oil fouled. There was a valve seal issue in 05.
Using any oil?

I agree with Streetglide, too, but the rear cylinder shouldn't be radically richer than the front unless the PCIII map is biased in this way. I can't imagine why it would be, as most people program both cylinders the same (don't they?).

I would check both cylinders on the A/F map and make sure they are the same. If not, I would make them so, then ask the tuner why it was set up this way. If they are the same, I would look elsewhere for a problem. Is the rich-looking plug really an indicator of oil consumption on that cylinder. Nvsteve's suggestion is very pertinent, as there were problems in '05 as he mentioned. If the rear cylinder looks radically different than the front and the map for both cylinders is the same, this would be my #1 suspect.

Sounds like you're actually getting good gas mileage. It might be able to be leaned out a little more, but since there's a known valve seal problem with your model, it sure might be worth checking out as suggested. Fouling after 2000 miles seems a little excessive IMHO. Good luck, King. Let us know what you find out.
