I'm thinking of running a flag on one of my antennas (07 Ultra). How are people attaching them so they'll stay on? What sort of flag works well? (I don't mean what country to fly. I mean is there an actual antenna flag or do I use one with grommets or...?)
i would'nt reccomend it. they will brake the antenna springs! my buddy broke his on his 06' ultra with an american flag on one and a pow-mia on the other
I have NEVER seen anybody run a flag on either their CB or radio antennas. There are plenty of other ways to do it. HD sells a flag mount and flag that goes on either the Tourpack or saddlebag for like 25 bux(I think they have the US flag and POW/MIA Flag), or you can order just the mount/pole, and put your own flag on it.
I bought a flag at the Flag Store on the west side of Dufferin just south of Steeles. It has a velcro wrap which I wrapped tightly around the bottom end of my antenna and then wrapped a 1/8 inch piece of rubber around the antenna to stop the flag from riding up.
I bought a couple of flags from the dollar store,(yeah, I know, cheap ****), they were made for clipping on car window, and I found they clip right on the back lip of my trunk. I have no problem closing the trunk lid. I've used them for over a year now, still work great.
i'd be a littel worried about attaching a flag to the antennas. The springs and plastic base look kinda weak and i wouldn't trust them from breaking with a flag on. I got the tour-pac rack mounted flags from Eastern Perf. Wrapped a small bit of electrical tape around the rack then bolt the flag poles to the rack. Have make a lot of trips with them on with no issues.
