Default Electrical Gremlin

Riding my 2019 RGS today and suddenly head unit cuts out, then flashes on and off several times for a few seconds, comes back on for a second or 2 tops, then powers back down and starts same process over and over. Battery replaced less than 3 months ago with Lithium Ion from Battery Tender (had one on previous bike and had no issues and loved the life expectancy and power it provided). I noticed when radio cut off that volt gauge was around 14-15 volts. I stopped and I checked battery connections and all were good. I resumed riding to head home and noticed now my voltage was fluctuating anywhere from 11-16 volts. My first guess is regulator??? What is the best way to diagnose and determine if regulator or stator issue? TIA !!

In the Electrical subforum there are two Stickys at the top on how to check your charging system. It will cover the voltage regulator and stator. There are also YouTube videos on the topic.

Thanks. Here is what I have discovered. Diagnosis and troubleshooting: stator checked out okay, (good continuity on all phases, good voltage output on all phases, not grounded) Voltage regulator/rectifier tested okay on positive side but bad on negative side. (had to look at several different videos to find a good one for proper testing/diagnosing). Battery voltage does not increase when bike is started so it appears I have bad rectifier/regulator. And of course JP Cycles and local dealer is currently out of stock. Hopefully will locate one soon and get back in the wind. Peace.

Try Cycle Electric....

Their products are superior to OEM...

You'll probably have to give them a call, I didn't see a model for a 2019 bike on their list...
