I question the dog dish comment. I put one on last year and it greatly reduced the air coming up in front of the tank. So where's that air going now? I would assume it's being directed around the engine.
For me, the change was very minimal, if any. Maybe it eliminated air hitting my mouth and chin. But that's about it. The fangs however, work amazingly. They just elevate the engine temp, a lot... Ever since I removed them, I haven't seen over 300 temps yet. Not even close.
For a second there, I thought you were talking about a real cat.. I thought, that was random....
Not a scientific report, as I don't have the FP3 installed, but by placing my unclaibrated fingers down by the cylinders I did feel hot air blowing behind them
That monstrous factory air cleaner assembly on the M8 Touring bikes is a lot of the problem with heat as it covers the right side of the engine. I put a S&S Stealth with the factory outer cover and noticed a big difference in felt heat.

I might get the oil cooler fan. I do miss fangs because they do work really well in deflecting wind, but I need to figure something out for the higher temps.
I have a triple tree wind deflector on every engine harley has produced beginning with the tc88 and I have never noticed any increase in engine temps, not saying it isn't so but I'm leaving mine on

I was told by my dealership, the factory removed them as they cause the motor to get hotter. Personally l think they removed them as a stock item to get the customer to buy them as an accessory. Marketing 101.
