First, I have to say that I LOVE my new RG. I also have an 04 sporty that is a kick around town. The RG is for 2 up riding with my wife.
I am planning to upgrade the air cleaner and exhaust. I did it on my sporty just to get it to run right. I like to say that I paid my "harley tax."
I will be installing a PCIII and SE air cleaner. I am also leaning toward the V&H true duals system and oval mufflers. Now for my question.
Since the PCIII will eliminate the O2 sensors, why do I need pipes with O2 bungs? Why not just get rid of the sensors all together????
Second question: Will earlier pipes fit my 07? or are there clearance issues with the 6 speed?
I've been lurking for a while trying to find these answers with no success. I could use some help. I know there are a lot of great people here. I appreciate any help of advice.
Just ordered a PCIII from Eastern Performance Cycles on Ebay for $289 with free shipping. 1st step of stage one upgrade. Next step is new air cleaner . . then pipes.

Welcome and CONGRATS on the RG, Steve!
In several cases, the pre-07 pipes will work. However, because of the change to the tranny.... the brackets are different. Additionally, "most" pre-07 pipes do not have O2 sensor bungs. Even if you plan to use the PCIII w/O2 eliminators for now, I would suggest a pipe that has bungs on it. Ya never know when you might decide you'd like to get a DTT, TMax, or whatever..... Don't under estimate the potential for something new & better or just simply different.

Thanks for the reply. From what I've learned so far, your post is the most accurate I've received. I still haven't talked with a V&H tech about this but I suspect that he will tell me the same thing you did. I can always plug the bungs with some nice plugs. The PCIII is on the way and I just ordered a Big Sucker air cleaner. Pipes are next!!!

Steve,
PCIII will eliminate O2's. Install plugs. Exhaust manufactures had to put bungs in to sell pipes legal.
As far as I found out, no pre '07 pipes will clear on a '07 due to tranny size.
