I ordered something from Chicago HD on 7/20/07 on 7/28/07 they said it was processed as of 7/29/07 it is now a special order. No one ever contacted me or gave the chance to order somewhere else. I have sent them e-mail but no responses. They sure didn't waste time hitting my account for the money though. Has anyone had this type of problem with them?
I've ordered several things fron them. Currently my rear speaker grills are backordered. Their prices are great but just don't be in a hurry for anything. I'd be a little concerned over your order though.
I just went through this. It took around 2 weeks for the stuff to show up. I actually got another update 3 days afer the "special order" notice saying that the stuff had shipped. So don't panic yet.
Chicago HD advertises every part in the catalog.... special order just means that what you want they don't have immediately in stock so it has to be orderd directly from HD before it can ship to you.
In m opinion, 20% off and no tax is worth a few extra days to wait.
They actually have a disclaimer on their website right now that talks about it taking awhile to get your orders. They also have a backorder list of items that can be downloaded, supposedly its updated weekly. I've ordered from them in the past and had the same long wait from them, still considering ordering a set of lowers from them this week. Just can't beat those low prices.
I placed my order on 7/16......6 out of 7 items were "special order items". E-mailed them on 8/3 asking fo an update...no reponse. I called yesterday and they told me 1 item was still on order from HD but they would ship what was in stock and follow up with the last item when it arrived. I have orderd from them before and never had any issues. I thought this was an isolated case but after reading the posts maybe not.
I've placed several orders with Chicago HD and along with what been written it does take a few weeks to get your stuff.I had a few special ordered parts and one that was changed to discontinued and they refunded that part back to my card. I've always got my stuff packaged great and brand new in the original factory boxes. If it's something that I want or need now I go to my local, if it's something that's pricey and I'm willing to wait 2-3 weeks to get my stuff I order from Chicago.
My last 4 orders from Chicago HD were all "Special Orders" I called to find out what was going on. I was told that Chicago HD takes all their orders in for the week and then places an order at the end of the week. They don't usually keepextra partson the shelf. It seems like every order is a "Special Order". I waited over8 weeks for my Tri-bar brake light for my Street Glide. When I first ordered the part it was onback order. Several weeks later the part # was changed by Harley (due tochanging vendors) when I called to inquire about the delay. Chicago HD told me the part was in stock, but I guess someone did not cross reference the old part # with the new part # so I was just sitting in Limbo. I asked why someone did not figure this out. I was told they areworking somebugs out of their new process! I was told Chicago HD would not give updates via email. You need to stay on top of them. If you need a part fastyour taking your chances. If you don't mind waiting and saving some money use Chicago HD.
