Default Dynojet/cam/TGS code issues

Hey guys, im having some pretty serious issues with my 2017 Street glide with the 107. Ill try to summarize the sequence of events to keep things clear.

1 year ago I installed a set of LA choppers 12" handlebars with wiring extensions with plugs, no soldering or re-pinning. Like a lot of guys, I had trouble pulling the wires through the bars and I broke 1. I repaired it and got the bars installed and everything ran just fine, though I had 1 code related to the TPS/TGS but I can't remember what it was. Again, everything ran fine for a year and 4k miles despite the code that wouldn't clear.

In the last few days I installed a Wood's 22x cam with the whole kit and pre-mapped dynojet tuner from Fuel Moto. A minute or 2 after startup (after resetting factory map via previous FP3 and flashing new map with Dynojet) I got a check engine light with a slew of codes related to TPS/TGS and the bike is in limp mode with minimal throttle response. I was able to rev the bike with full throttle response at first but now there is minimal throttle response only allowing 2k rpm.

I have since pulled the bars and wiring, re-repaired my previous wire with solder and found some nicks to the wire sheathing, though no wire strands appeared damaged. I plugged the Twist Grip Sensor in outside of the bars and without the wiring extensiond to no avail. I cannot clear the codes via the on-board diagnostics or the Dynojet.

I know the next step is to replace the TGS but they are on backorder for about 6 weeks. I'm going to order a used one from Ebay and try it but I'm looking for some input in the mean time.

The codes are as follows all from the ECM
p0120
p0122
p0220
p0222
p0641
p1510
p1511
p2122
p2135
p2138

I did not unplug or remove the throttle body during install, but I have since removed the plug to check for corrosion and it looked just fine. I did hear the throttle body going nuts right after the initial startup.

Fuel Moto basically said that it was a problem with my bar wiring but why has the issue just crippled my bike since their tune? I reset factory tune and tried the old FP3 tune but neither made an improvement.

Any input or recommendations are welcome. Im pretty stumped. Thanks guys

If it was me, I would order all the new wiring harnesses that go from the switches and down to the main harness. From your description, it sounds like you had some issues pulling the wire through the bars, hence the reason for the chaffed wires. Those wires are small and could be broken inside the jacket and/or pins for the connectors could be damaged as well. Canbus systems are sensitive to resistance and different loads. I was always told to avoid soldering harnesses' on a Canbus system ,especially when extension harnesses are readily available.

I am a firm believer that when a problem appears after doing some work on the bike, it is usually caused by something done, touched, bumped, etc during the recent work...

I completely understand why you think it has something to do with the tune, since the issue surfaced after your mods & new tune...

The new tune could have possibly called for changes/adjustments/feedback from TPS that it was unable to provide due to previous damage... but that is just a complete uneducated guess...

However.... since you have switched back to the older tunes, and it doesn't fix the problem, then it would appear that the new tune is not the cause of your bike being "crippled"...

I believe "jake24lt" mentioned several good points his advice above....

Good luck with your repair...

I have to go along with hattitude on this...if you have reverted to a prior tune and still have the same problem I would suspect a fault related to the wring harness that was damaged a year ago. It is the most logical place to start in any case....

Agree with Jake24t, or approach the problem like Occam's razor.

Thanks for the input guys. I went ahead and ordered a "good used" TGS on Ebay while I wait for the new one. If this one fixes it then I'll cancel my order through Surdyke.

The switch control wiring is in good shape, I kept the factory protective liner on it so the wires should be fine.

Here's to hoping I can get the new wiring through without beating it up too. It almost makes it worth the $1,000 price tag for pre wired bars.

It really sucks not being able to see what the new cam feels like yet

Well, fresh Twist grip Sensor from the local Harley dealer plugged in and not run through the bars and no dice. Still have the same 10 ECM codes and still in "limp mode". Codes wont reset even after disconnecting the battery and touching the terminals together to clear the capacitors in the ECM. I let it get up to operating temp too.

Phones seem to be out at Fuel Moto this afternoon. Im at a loss guys...

Im speechless. While unplugging my TPS just for fun, I felt that the wiring was caught up behind the air cleaner. Before I even removed the air cleaner I knew what I had done. Ill get them repaired this evening.

Hey, that could be your problem.....!

OK, sorry, I couldn't help myself.... but don't go thinking you are retard of the year... anyone who works on their bikes has a similar story... whether they are willing to admit to it is another matter all together... I know I won't... it's that stupid...

Finding the issue is usually the hard part, the rest should be easier...

Good luck with the repair...
