I use my ipod on my 01 FLHTCI and put it in the windshield pouch when I am riding. The ipod hard drive locks up after about 20 minutes of bumps and I have to reset it. Does anyone know if a ipod mount on the handlebars is a cure for this lockup? Any other recommendations from those of you who use their ipod on the bike would be appreciated.
My IPOD was doing the same thing. Unfortunately I don't know of a fix. ...too much vibration for the hard drive. I finally had to buy a nano which does not have a hard drive...it's a flash player...so it won't lock up.

Same problem here with my 60GB IPOD photo, locked up before Santana came on and really started to **** me off. I did some research and found out the standard IPODS with the largecapacity drivesare hard drive based so its kinda like mounting a laptop on your bars and wondering why it has shaken apart in a few days and locks up programs. Anyway I bought the 8GB nano (small thin one). You can run, jump, drop it and it still plays and does notlock up due to the system its based off of (flash drive as stated above) Ditch that IPOD and get an IPODnano from B&H photo in NY or Best Buy.
I had the same problem, started carrying it in my pocket and haven't had any problems since. It's also nice, because I don't walk off and leave it on the bike by mistake
This is good info! I was just about to pull the trigger on an iPod and figured I'd get the one with the hard drive...not now! Looks like the nano it is!
I have an 80 GBiPodvideo. I use it every time I ride my2007 SG. The mounting system I use is cheaper then official handle bar mounts and can be easily removed. I have never had a problem with skipping.
The iPod isin a jogging case that comes with a belt clip. I tie a do rag rag/bandanna to the left handle bar. The belt clip slides in the middle of the knot. Since mypatch cord is pretty long, I coil it up and use one end of the do rag to tiethe cord in place.
This method is cheap, easy to mount, and easy to remove the iPod if you are away from the bike. The iPod is also near the 12v outlet if you need to recharge it. I don't have pictures right now, butIcan get you a picture upon request. I hope this helps.
My IPOD Shuffle hold about 300 songs or just about 18 hours of tunes. No issues and it's small, easy to operate and stores just about anywhere you want to put it.
