Default Touring Plug Wires

Everyone knows how the fuel tank rubs the front plug wire on the twin cam bikes and now it is time for me to replace mine. My question is what brand wires is everyone running ? HD or another brand ?

I know the bike has the ion sensing system and this is why i ask this question as i still want it to work.

I put the red Screaming Eagle 10mm plug wires on with new plugs at 20,000 miles. I have had no issues with the ion system and have seen an increase in gas mileage since changing both. And the red wires give a nice little pop to my black bike.

I h ave never had an issue but I would replace with OEM. No use in spending extra money on plug wires or plugs. There is absolutely no gains to be had with just wires or plugs.

Do the red plug wires make the bike go faster?

I just went through this. OEM , is the way to go IMHO. The info provided about other wires is non comital , as far as proper function.

oem plug wires are $40 for the set. the screamin eagle plug wires are $54. not a whole lot of extra money and even if the performance is exactly the same, at least they look cool.

There are plenty that are worse than OEM, and none that are any better. With that said pay attention on the front wire and the ties that hold it in place as you can route it such a way that it does rub on the tank. It's your money spend it how you wish.

the red ones add 3 h.p. but the orange ones add 4 ft. Lbs, while the black ones add 5mph to the top end...they don't add power but every one knows black is more aerodynamic. All kidding aside I put a set of screaming eagle ones on about 3 years ago...no problems, no wear from rubbing anywhere they just work.
