I have searched the forums, and Googled . and I can not find what I am looking for.
I have an 00 Road King that I would like to install a removable fairing that mounts to the standard windshield mounts. I want to be able to take it on and off as easily as the stock windshield, and be able to switch to the windshield if I want to.
I want to mount a double dan radio, and 4 speakers.
I bought a Vector, but sent it back because the brackets didnt fit.
I am hoping those of you who have a fairing on your King can give me some advice, and maybe some pics.
I have one of these on my 06 RKC and I like it. I have an older one that I found on FB marketplace and have installed my own sound system. The amp is mounted under the bottom, with a false floor. I cut the hole in the door for the controller. I know some may not like the "Bubba-ish" way I figured out how to do a quick disconnect for power, but it works. I used a 4-plug trailer connection mounted under the chrome on the nacelle. It takes all of a minute to remove the fairing and all the connections are through one connector (ground, power, ignition (triggered) power, and also another wire if I should ever hook up the blue (power) wire for another amp or something elsewhere on the bike. I like it, and as you said, I can switch back to the full windshield, or no windshield, in seconds.
I have a Dead Center Cycles batwing on my '13 King. Their fairings fit '94 and up. You can get them with full stereo, with speakers only or plain-Jane. I have the plain-Jane. They look real close to the '13 and earlier H-D batwings. They use the stock windshield mounts and go on or come off in 15 seconds.
I would call them as they can add the stereo brackets for you if you get the plain-Jane.
What is a Double Dan radio and where do you look for them.
Roll Safe
I think he meant "Double Din". It refers to the size of the radio face. Remember the older radios with the rectangular face? They were Single Din. A Double Din is just as wide as those older-style radios, but twice as tall, therefore, double-din. There are also 1 1/2-din, just to mix it up a little.
To the OP,
As shown already, there are many options for fairings. The main thing is to do your research and find what one that clicks all your "must-have" boxes.
